Leading laptop and PC makers including MSI, Acer, ASUS and Lenovo are launching products adopting Mini LED technology. The technology is also believed to be seen on the new Apple iPad Pro and MacBook Pro coming in the second half of 2020. With more products using Mini LED entering the market, many hold a positive attitude toward the supply chain.

For Mini LED chip manufacture, Taiwan’s Epistar has expanded its Mini LED production capacity with increased capital expenditures. The new capacity is scheduled to be ready by the end of 2Q20 and the utilization is expected to peak in the fourth quarter. Mini LED production will then account for 20-30% of its blue LED production capacity.
Chinese LED package company Nationstar reported Mini LED products delivery as well. The company has manufactured its Mini LED products in volume and continues to launch fine pitch products covering P0.9, P0.7 and P0.5.
Since Mini LED applications use a larger amount of LED chips, the demands for LED testing equipment also rise. FitTech, who specializes in sorting and probing, has taken orders from companies in Taiwan and China and is seeing a double digit growth of its annual revenue despite the on-going coronavirus crisis.
Demands for personal electronics such as laptops and tablets are less affected by the COVID-19 pandemic since people need these devices for remote working, studying and also entertaining.
